FROM THE PRESIDENT
Greetings!
I want to thank you all for the opportunity I have had this year to serve as the FMMS Alliance president. It’s been great to be a part of this organization that strives to serve our community through educational programs, projects, and fun activities.
The major focus of this year has been the “Stroke Happens” project. It was through the desire of our Alliance to inform the public of the symptoms to recognize when someone is having a stroke and the immediate action to take that could save their life that this project began. The outcome has been a bookmark with that information listed on it that will be available throughout Fresno and outlying areas. Let’s all be a part of getting the word out about knowing the first signs of stroke!
In review, the Alliance has continued our favorite projects by participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, giving gifts to the children at Craycroft Youth Center during the holidays, and participating at the Girl Scout World Thinking Day. Our members have also been encouraged to bring guests to our health education meetings to hear local physicians speak on osteoporosis, breast cancer, and stroke. We have welcomed an average of 30 ladies at our general meetings.
Mark your calendar for the Tuesday, May 12th Garden Party to be held at the beautiful Sunnyside Country Club. We will welcome CMAA President Debbi Ricks, who will install our 2009-2010 slate of officers. It will also be a day to honor our past presidents and present the Dedicated Alliance Member award. Hope to see you all there!
It is with regret that I announce that Patty Witmer will not be assuming the responsibilities of 2009-2010 FMMS Alliance president due to current health issues; our thoughts and prayers are with Patty at this difficult time. Fortunately, Patty has chosen to continue as president-elect for the coming year. If you are interested in being a part of the Board this coming year, please contact Naomi Flam, Nominations chairman.
In closing, I want to thank my fabulous board of directors and committee
members who have made all these events possible through their dedication, hard work, enthusiasm, and desire to make a difference in the health of our community! You’re the Best!!!
See you at the Garden Party!
