The Fresno-Madera Medical Society Alliance had its beginnings during a meeting at University-Sequoia Club on December 4, 1935. Fifty-two charter physician spouses attended, and were considered "Members of the Women's Auxiliary to Fresno County Medical Society" if they paid their $2.00 dues.

Although altered to a slight degree over the years, the purposes of the organziation are:

1. To assist the Fresno-Madera Medical Society in their programs for the advancement of medicine and public health, upon request.
2. To promote the health education projects and charitable activities that improve the health and quality of life in our community.
